Couple Karma is the ‘give and take’ couples app, which will help you and your partner get more out of your relationship. The idea is that you add ‘wishes’ for each other. Wishes are things you’d like your partner to do that would make you happier.
The first thing is to add a wish. Go to the ‘My Wishes’ tab and either click the ‘Add First Wish’ button, or on ‘Add Wish’ at the top. Have a look through the wishes we’ve suggested, and click the plus sign next to the ones you like. These wishes will be added to your list. If you want to create your own wish from scratch, click on ‘Custom Wish’ at the top.
A wish is something you’d like your partner to do that would make you happier. It could be a one-off thing, like coming with you to a concert or watching a movie together. Or it could be something more general, like complimenting you more often or surprising you with the occasional gift.
To add your first wish, go to the ‘My Wishes’ tab and then either click the ‘Add First Wish’ button, or on ‘Add Wish’ at the top. Have a look through the wishes we’ve suggested, and click the plus sign next to the ones you like. These wishes will be added to your list. If you want to create your own wish from scratch, click on ‘Custom Wish’ at the top.
On the ‘My Wishes’ tab, click on the title of a wish to open up its detail screen. From there, click on the title or description to edit.
This is where you can add a few more details about your wish. For example, if your wish’s title is ‘Take me out to dinner’, then you could use the description to say which restaurant you have in mind, when you’d like to go, etc.
Yes, you can. When you move wishes up or down in your list, this also changes the order in which they appear to your partner. To move a wish, click ‘Reorder’ at the top and then use the up and down arrows which appear under each wish’s title. When you’re happy with the new order, click ‘Done Reordering’ at the top.
On the ‘My Wishes’ tab, click on the title of a wish to open up its detail screen. Then click the trash can icon at the top.
To see each other’s wishes, your Couple Karma accounts need to be joined (for more on account joining, see the ‘Accounts’ section below). When you create or edit a wish, the information is uploaded to the Couple Karma server, and from there it is sent on to your partner’s device.
You can nudge your partner if you think they might have forgotten about one of your wishes. This sends them a notification, and it makes the nudge icon flash for them to highlight your wish. When they acknowledge your nudge by clicking on it, the nudge icon stops flashing but will still be there. If you want to take away a nudge, you can click ‘Un-nudge’.
You can use the emojis to give your partner feedback on how they’re doing with your wishes. For example, if you’ve asked your partner to give you more compliments and they are actually doing that, you can click on the heart emoji to show them your appreciation.
If you want to chat about a wish, click the message icon. If you have a new message, the icon will flash.
This is by design. It’s completely up to you to decide what your wishes are, so only you can edit them. Likewise, it’s completely up to your partner to decide what their wishes are.
If an icon flashes, it represents updated information of some sort. If your partner nudges you, the nudge icon will flash; if they change a feedback emoji, that will flash, etc. You can acknowledge an update and stop the icon flashing by clicking on it.
To get your account joined to your partner’s, the crucial thing is to give the correct email addresses during the account sign up process. When the first partner signs up, they are asked to give the second partner’s email address on the ‘Invite Partner’ screen. When the second partner signs up, they should use this same email address. If they do, the second partner will be given the option of accepting the first partner’s invitation.
In this case, unfortunately the second partner would have to delete their account and sign up again using the email address that the first partner gave on the ‘Invite Partner’ screen. If the first partner gave the wrong email address on the ‘Invite Partner’ screen, then unfortunately both partners would have to delete their accounts and sign up again using their correct email addresses.
Go to ‘Login > Forgot Password’, and enter your email address (the one you gave when you signed up). We will send you an email that will let you reset your password.
Click the menu icon at the top, then click ‘Change Password’ and follow the instructions.
Click the menu icon at the top, then click ‘Delete Account’ and follow the instructions.
You can, but you would have to sign up multiple times yourself using different email addresses. It’s not currently possible to join a single account (i.e. an account associated with a single email address) to multiple partner accounts.
Unfortunately we do not currently support changing the email address associated with an account, while preserving account data.
Yes, you can. Any edits you make will be saved on your device and uploaded to the Couple Karma server the next time you’re online.
Yes, there’s nothing to stop you using Couple Karma with someone who isn’t your romantic partner. Just enter your (non-romantic) wishes and use the app in the normal way.
I’ve broken up with my original Couple Karma partner. How can I add a new account with my new partner?
To set up a new account, first delete your existing account using the ‘Delete Account’ function. You can then create a new account using the same email address that you used for your old account.
Legal & business.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Couple Karma.
It doesn’t, not at this stage. Please rest assured that we are not secretly selling your information on to third parties, or using some other kind of underhand scheme to monetize the app. If in the future we decide to monetize, we will do so via adverts or by adding paid features.
